Back on November 29, 2001, Trey Anastasio, Bob Weir and Nicholas Payton appeared together at the Bushnell Theater in Hartford, CT. The three musicians participated in a panel discussion held by the Connecticut Forum titled The Power of Music. Along with opera singer Beverly Sills, the three discussed their philosophies of music. Anastasio, Weir and Payton each played a solo piece, with Anastasio offering “The Inlaw Josie Wales,” Weir performing “Victim or the Crime” and Payton contributing “Potato Head Blues.” At the close of the night, Anastasio, Weir and Payton joined in for some improv. Anastasio’s solo selection appears above, while the trio’s performance and some of the Q and A, has just been posted in full-size splendor to the Relix video blog.
