Founding Meters drummer Joseph ‘Zigaboo’ Modeliste is continuing to create new music. While his base of operations is northern California, Modeliste still has a feel for his roots. This is evidenced by his new single, “At the Mardi Gras,” which is now streaming on Relix.com. The tune expresses the spirit of New Orleans with the help of bassist Mark Pero, guitarist Shane Theriot, keyboardist Kurt Brunus, organist Joe Krown, percussionist Bill Summers, and a horn section arranged by Wardell Querzeque. “At The Mardi Gras” is from Modeliste’s forthcoming album New Life which is set for an April release.

Zig is likely to present some of the material from the new disc, during his upcoming two gigs, a New Orleans Mardi Gras Costume Party performance at Cafe Du Nord in San Francisco on Saturday, followed by a Fat Tuesday show on March 8 at Little Fox in Redwood City, CA.
