A look at Surprise Me Mr. Davis’ previous Bell House show

Surprise Me Mr. Davis returned to Brooklyn, NY’s Bell House last night. The supergroup—which consists of singer/songwriter Nathan Moore, keyboardist Marco Benevento and The Slip—recently collaborated with the likes of John Popper, Widespread Panic’s JoJo Hermann and Jennifer Hartswick at Austin’s SXSW.

Last night, the band propped a prize wheel onstage before the show and marked such prizes as Marco Solo, Brad [Barr] solo, Slip Song, Cover Song, Magic Trick and Instrument Switch. The members of the group spun the wheel throughout the night to yield solo songs from both guitarist Brad Barr and Benevento as well as a magic trick from Moore. Benevento and Moore also left the stage during the group’s encore as The Slip ran through “Children of December.”

When the wheel hit the Instrument Switch panel, the members of the group also all switched their instruments: Benevento played drums, Moore moved over to keyboards, Barr picked up the bass and bassist Marc Friedman played guitar. Surprise Me Mr. Davis will perform at Live Oak, FL’s Suwannee Springfest this weekend.
