This evening George Porter Jr. is in Cleveland with 7 Walkers for a performance at Beachland Ballroom. Late April and early May, however, will find the legendary bass player back in his hometown of New Orleans for the two weeks of Jazz Fest. Friday, May 6 now looks to be quite the busy night for Porter. He’ll start out at the Mahalia Jackson Theater for the Performing Arts for an appearance with the funky Meters. Then—along with funky Meters guitarist Brian Stoltz—he’ll make his way over to The Parish at The House of Blues for a late night superjam. There the pair will be joined by Marco Benevento, Adam Deitch and presumably some other guests for a show that will kick off at 2 AM.
