An earlier Stanton Moore jam session

Galactic performed at San Francisco’s The Fillmore this past Saturday. After the show, Galactic’s Stanton Moore (drums) and Jeffery Raines (guitar) moved down the street for a late night set with organ player Wil Blades at the Boom Boom Room. The trio kicked off its show after 2 AM with a version of “Pot Licker” off Moore’s Groove Alchemy and stretched until 5 AM. Near the end of the group’s first set, Tea Leaf Green bassist Reed Mathis, keyboardist Ivan Neville and his Dumpstaphunk bassist Tony Hall all joined Moore and Raines onstage for covers of Billy Preston’s “Will It Go ‘Round In Circles” and The Meters’ “Cardova.” (Ivan Neville’s Dumpstaphunk was in San Francisco for two shows of its own.)

The group’s second set featured appearances by a number of guitarists, including Wil Blades steady Bay Area collaborator Steve Burke, Dumpstaphunk’s Ian Neville and Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe’s Brian Jordan.
