The Grateful Dead will release all 22 shows from its European tour that originally was documented on the Europe ’72 triple album. The Europe ’72: The Complete Recordings box set contains tour memorabilia, a coffee-table book with never-before-seen photos and a comprehensive essay by Blair Jackson. Each performance will also be accompanied by an essay specific to the show written by David Gans, Gary Lambert, Nicholas Meriwether and Steve Silberman. While the run of 7,200 box sets has been sold out, an “All The Music” edition of Europe ’72, which includes all of the music recorded on the tour and the liner notes is still available.

The Europe ’72 tour kicked off 39 years ago today and is being celebrated with a special section of the group’s Facebook page, which launches today. New music will stream in conjunction with the anniversary of each tour stop, while essays, photos and other memorabilia will appear on the page. In addition, a contest will held to give one lucky winner the “All The Music” edition of Europe ’72.
