Bon Iver frontman Justin Vernon played with an eclectic mix of musicians at Indio, CA’s Coachella this past weekend. Vernon—who was at the festival to perform with the group Gayngs—emerged during The National’s set to sing on “Terrible Love” (reprising his role from the studio version of the song). Later in the night, Vernon was one of only a few guests to join Kanye West’s festival-closing set.

Instead of the plagued glow in the dark production he staged at Bonnaroo, West entered the stage on top of a crane positioned above the audience. His show was filled with a troupe of dancers and an elaborate stage setup but few musical guests. Vernon—who appears on the rapper’s most recent album—sat in on “Dark Fantasy,” “Monster” and “Lost in the World.” West also dedicated the entire performance to his mother.
