Juno What?! first came together in 2008. The group features The Motet’s Dave Watts (drums, samples) and Joey Porter (keyboards, talk box) along with Steve Watkins (keyboards, talk box, bass). The trio, which described its sound as “late 70’s/early 80’s-inspired, high energy, funk-disco, synth bass, electronica,” often draws in additional players, such as Big Gigantic’s Dominic Lalli who was a founding member of the collective. On May 20 and 21 Juno What?! will record a live album in its native Colorado over two nights. The group will appear at Cervantes’ Other Side, in Denver during those two evenings while The Royal Family Ball featuring Soulive and Lettuce will take place next door at Cervantes’ Masterpiece Ballroom. Juno What?! is offering free downloads of its studio album Shameless at Junowhat.net.
