“Windows” jam

Over the weekend, Max Creek closed out its 40th anniversary run. On Friday night the group made its way to New York City’s Sullivan Hall for two sets. This performance, which focused on Creek originals, included rousing versions of such songs as “Jones” (which guitarist Scott Murawski also has brought to the Mike Gordon Band), “Windows,” “Said and Done” and “Something Is Forming.” The next evening at the Met Cafe in Pawtucket, RI a familiar face joined the group as former drummer Greg DeGuglielmo, who performed with the band from 1985-1991, appeared late in the first set. First he replaced Scott Allshouse on drums during “I Will Always See Your Face” and then sat in for Gregg Vasso after Allshouse returned for “I Know You Rider.” The second set opened with DeGuglielmo and Murawski appearing as a tandem with the DeGuglielmo on vocals and guitar while Murawski moved to bass for “Dancing On The Fire.” The set later closed out in fine fashion with “Baba,” followed by a 45 minute fully-segued sequence that moved from “Katie Mae” into “Peaceful Warrior,” “Just A Rose” and “Sympathy For The Devil.”

Max Creek’s Camp Creek event will take place from August 5-7 in Oxford, ME.
