Particle’s Steve Molitz was in New Orleans this past weekend for JazzFest. Molitz made the most of his time in The Crescent City and played no less than seven shows in four days. The keyboardist kicked off his New Orleans marathon last Wednesday with a set at The Rusty Nail as part of Tea Leaf Green guitarist Josh Clark’s Counterclarkwise. This incarnation of the group also featured ALO’s Dan Lebowitz and Steve Adams, as well as Tea Leaf Green drummer Cochrane McMillan. The next night Moltiz made an appearance at JoJo Hermann’s Down on the Bayou III benefit at the Howlin’ Wolf before stopping by Tipitina’s Uptown for a late night show hosted by Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe. There Molitz and the Lettuce Horns emerged for the KDTU Afro-beat original “Elephants.” In addition, Friday night Molitz and his recent collaborator DJ Logic hosted The Synth Lab at the Maison and Saturday Molitz brought The Synth Lab to the Dragon’s Den. Saturday night’s The Synth Lab also featured Clark, Simon Lott (drums) and Kirk Joseph (sousaphone bass) and a set by Gravity A, who Molitz also joined onstage.

Finally, on Saturday night Molitz performed with his The Big Everything project at 12 Bar. The ensemble—Molitz, Clark, Adams and James Cohen—played a handful of originals, as well as a cover of The Band’s “Don’t Do It.”
