The Who in 1989

Back on March 25, Roger Daltrey revisited The Who’s rock opera Tommy during a performance at The Royal Albert Hall at a benefit for the Teenage Cancer Trust. As we previously reported, he will bring Tommy to the road with a U.K. tour that kicks off on July 3. Now comes the news that he will cross the Atlantic with his band for a series of series of shows that open on September 13. His band for these performances will include Pete Townshend’s younger brother Simon as well as Frank Simes (guitar), Scott Deavours (drums), Jon Button (Bass) and Loren Gold (keyboards). While Daltrey, Pete Townshend and John Entwistle performed a version of Tommy on tour in 1989, technically this will be the first time that Daltrey delivers Tommy live in its entirety, as The Who omitted “Underture” and “Welcome” during those shows.
