Steve Kimock, David Nelson Band, Jesse McReynolds, Moonalice and Railroad Earth will participate in “A Tribute to the Life of Owsley ‘Bear’ Stanley and the Musical Spirit of Jerry Garcia” at Santa Rosa, CA’s Harmony Festival on June 10. The tribute will include a complete reworking of the Grateful Dead’s 1973 live album History of the Grateful Dead, Volume One (Bear’s Choice), which Bear recorded in 1970 and produced as a tribute to Pigpen. The show will take place from 9 PM – 3 AM in Harmony Hall as part of the festival’s After Dark late night concert series. Access to Late Night event is included with a Harmony Festival Three Day Plus, Whole Festival or VIP ticket or as a separate Friday Night Ticket ($45 online in advance), which includes all of the other Late Night concerts and after hours attractions.

The tribute will have a visual aspect, featuring art and installations by the likes of TRPS, Stanley Mouse, The Merry Pranksters, Alex Gray, Mati Klarwein and Martina Hoffman. The work of Jerry Garcia, Owsley Stanley, Rick Griffin and Alton Kelley will be represented as well. The performance will also boast a collection of original blotter art curated by Shady Backflash and Rick McCloud, live painting by Stanley Mouse and Mark Henson, visuals by Jonathan Singer and ambiance and interactive experientials by Johnny Dwork (Peak Experience Productions).

The 33rd annual Harmony Festival will take place from June 10-12. Other acts slated to appear include Primus, Michael Franti & Spearhead, The Flaming Lips, Grace Potter, G. Love & Special Sauce, Edward Sharpe and Ghostland Observatory.
