Phish closed out a two-night run at Holmdel, NJ’s P.N.C. Bank Arts Center. Once again, the band dug heavily into its Farmhouse -era repertoire, including that period’s traditional opener “First Tube.” The rest of the set saw the band stretch out, with highlight moments occurring during “Seven Below” and especially “Split Open and Melt.”

The Vermont Quartet carried the energy from its first set into the second set with a segue from “Tweezer” into Phish’s debut of Led Zeppelin’s epic “No Quarter.” Page McConnell—who played the song with his side project Vida Blue—sang Robert Plant’s vocal parts, mimicking the original version by running his microphone through a rotary speaker. Throughout the rest of the set, Trey Anastasio continued to tease the song in sections of both “Ghost,” and “Backwards Down the Number Line.”

While thunderstorms and a potential tornado loomed, the skies over Holmdel cleared just in time for the show. A spurt of rain did appear as the second set commenced, but passed shortly after.

Phish continues its summer tour at the DTE Energy Music Theater in Clarkston, MI on Friday. Though band has yet to perform at the venue, the Trey Anastasio Band did open there for Tom Petty in 2006.
