Dispatch kicked off their first tour in almost a decade this past Friday at Morrison, CO’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre. Though the group staged a massive farewell show in 2004 and reunited for a series of New York dates in 2007, the group has not toured since 2002. The location made sense: Dispatch played their final 2002 show in the shadow of Red Rocks at Denver, CO’s City Lights Pavilion.

Perhaps as a sign of things to come, the group opened its Red Rocks show with the new original song “Melon Bend,” which the members of Dispatch debuted on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon earlier in April. In addition to material from Dispatch’s four studio albums, Friday’s setlist included the live debuts of “Con Man,” “Valentine,” “Beto” “Broken American” and “Turn This Ship Around.” All six new songs appear on the group’s new self-titled EP. Dispatch will perform at Chicago’s UIC Pavilion tomorrow.
