Over the past few years The Motet has covered a variety of artists on Halloween. In 2011, the group will move from Earth, Wind & Fire, which The Motet interpreted last year, to the good ol’ Grateful Dead. The line-up will feature Dave Watts (drums), Garrett Sayers (bass), Joey Porter (keys), Ryan Jalbert (guitar), Scott Messersmith (percussion) and Dan Schwindt (guitar) along with three vocalists: Jans Ingber, Paul Creighton and Kim Dawson. In addition, a portion of the show will see a horn section—Gabe Mervine (trumpet), Matt Pitts (tenor sax) and Pete Wall (baritone sax)—take the stage, just as the Grateful Dead added horns in September 1973.

The Motet Presents “Funk Is Dead” will take place at the Aggie Theatre on Fort Collins on October 28 at the Ogden Theater in Denver on October 29 and at the Boulder Theater on Halloween night.
