The members of Deer Tick have performed the music of Nirvana as Deervana at some small clubs around their home state of Rhode Island. The band took the cover act on the road for appearances at Austin, TX’s SXSW and a surprise show at Bonnaroo. Deervana resurfaced once again last night for a show at Brooklyn, NY’s Brooklyn Bowl as part of the Northside Festival. The group Waters opened the night and joined in the action by covering Hole’s “Violet.” At the end of Deervana’s set, the members of the band destroyed their Fender guitars onstage with the help of some of the venue’s bowling balls. Deer Tick will perform its own music at Calgary, AB’s Sled Island festival on June 24.
