moe. has announced a contest via their Facebook page which will allow fans to create a 40 second commercial advertising the moe.down festival. As previously reported, moe.down will return to Mohawk, NY’s Gelston Castle Estate from September 2-4. Prizes will include two tickets to the festival, a chance to meet the group and take photos, two tickets to any show (excluding New Year’s Eve) and a private tour of Saranac Brewery. Fans are encouraged to use any pictures or videos taken from moe.down in the past, and the winner of the contest will have their video displayed on the front page of moe.org. Videos can be submitted here.

The band has also announced details for their annual election of “Mayor of moe.down” that occurs during the Sunday night performance at the close of the festival. While in years past all the campaigning has been done at the festival by candidates such as Chicken McFisty, Rage Lincoln and That Colonial Guy, this year potential candidates will be required to create a Facebook page describing themselves and receive 50 votes. After receiving these votes, candidates are required to post on the official moe.down Facebook page so that they can be included in the final vote. As is tradition, the winner will be chosen by crowd applause during Sunday’s set. This year’s moe.down will feature multiple sets of moe., as well as performances by Ween, The Levon Helm Band, TV On The Radio, Bruce Hornsby & The Noisemakers, and more.
