The annual Virgin Mobile FreeFest will take place at Columbia, MD’s Merriweather Post Pavilion on Saturday, September 10. Like the past few years, the festival will be free and will feature a diverse mix of bands. Virgin Mobile FreeFest’s main stage will boast The Black Keys, Deadmau5, Cee Lo Green, TV on the Radio, Patti Smith, Empire of the Sun, Cut Copy, Grace Potter & The Nocturnals, Okkervil River, Big Sean, Two Door Cinema Club, Alberta Cross and Bombay Bicycle Club. Meanwhile, The Dance Forest will feature James Murphy, Calvin Harris, Ghostland Observatory, !!!, Porter Robinson, Eclectic Method and Teddybears. Tickets to the 2011 Virgin Mobile FreeFest will go “On Free” to the public at 10 a.m. EDT Friday, July 15, via Virgin Mobile LIVE on facebook.com/virginmobilelive.

James Murphy is said to be making a solo appearance at the festival, though it is not known whether that will be a DJ set or a new project. The LCD Soundsystem leader performed at Camp Bisco this past Friday—his first public show since LCD’s Madison Square Garden swansong in April.
