The first ever joint fundraiser with Amazon Watch and Sustainable Biodiesel Alliance will be holding an event on Friday, July 22 at the Bentley Reserve in San Francisco. Willie Nelson will be the honoree of the evening and will receive the 2011 Sustainable Biodiesel Alliance Visionary Award. Past honorees have included Jack Johnson, and the non-profit Reverb. The Sustainable Biodiesel Alliance and Amazon Watch are trying to raise awareness about biodiesel and it’s benefits.

“Coming together with Amazon Watch is an important partnership to educate folks on the benefit of non-commodity fuel that we can produce from our own community resources,” Jeff Plowman, Executive Director of the Sustainable Biodiesel Alliance, said in a statement.

The fundraiser will include a musical performance by Sara Wasserman and friends, a charity auction, and a locally grown dinner. For this show, Wasserman’s “friends” will include Dan Hicks, Narada Michael Walden, Tommy Castro and RatDog bassist Robin Sylvester, among others. Sylvester replaced Sara Wasserman’s father in RatDog but the two bassists have performed together at a few recent Bob Weir events.
