Back in April, Eric Clapton joined Jazz at Lincoln Center artistic director Wynton Marsalis for two nights at the Rose Theater. Portions of these two shows as well as a performance at the Jazz at Lincoln Center gala a day earlier will now be made available. On September 13, Reprise Records will release Wynton Marsalis & Eric Clapton Play the Blues as both a CD, CD/DVD and as a digital audio download. Taj Majal opened these gigs and he guests on two tracks, while the DVD also features his solo take on “Stagger Lee.” On these evenings, Marsalis and Clapton were backed by Dan Nimmer (piano), Carlos Henriquez (bass), Ali Jackson (drums), Marcus Printup (trumpet), Victor Goines (clarinet), Chris Crenshaw (trombone, vocals), Don Vappie (banjo) and Chris Stainton (keys).
