James Brown tenor saxophonist Pee Wee Ellis will celebrate his 70th birthday by reuniting with two other classic members of the JB’s, trombonist Fred Wesley and alto saxophonist Maceo Parker. The Pee Wee, Fred & Maceo: A Funky Good Time concert will take place at New York’s Town Hall on Thursday, October 6. The three James Brown sidemen reunited for a performance with the members of Lettuce at Bear Creek last year and also performed together aboard Jam Cruise earlier this year. The funk legends will be backed at Town Hall by an all-star band consisting of Larry Goldings (keys), Christian McBride (bass), Bill Stewart (drums) and Rodney Jones (guitar).
