The Ghosts of Electricity is a Bob Dylan cover band featuring notable members of the Grateful Dead family and surrounding Bay Area music scene. Led by RatDog guitarist Mark Karan, the group emerged for performances at Santa Cruz, CA’s Moe’s Alley and San Francisco’s Brick & Mortar last weekend. In addition to Karan, the group’s lineup featured guitarist Stu Allen (JGB), bassist Robin Sylvester (RatDog), drummer Greg Anton (Zero), keyboardist Mookie Siegel (David Nelson Band, RatDog) and vocalist/guitarist Pat Nevins (Workingman’s Ed). During the band’s Santa Cruz show, area bassist Bill Laymon (New Riders of the Purple Sage, David Nelson Band, Jefferson Starship, Big Brother & the Holding Company, Kingfish) also sat in on “You Ain’t Going Nowhere.” As previously reported, Karan will perform with Donna Jean Godchaux Band at Laurelton, PA’s A Bear’s Picnic this weekend and then again at the Bella Terra festival on August 19.
