My Morning Jacket and Neko Case Nod to Bee Gees, Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton

Neko Case is the opening act on My Morning Jacket’s current tour. On Wednesday night, the two acts performed at Pittsburgh, PA’s Stage AE. During MMJ’s encore, Case emerged to sing with the group on a cover of “Islands In The Stream.” The song, written by the Bee Gees (Barry, Robin and Maurice Gibb), was later recorded by Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton. My Morning Jacket had not played the tune since its December 31, 2008 show at Madison Square Garden. Nicole Atkins sang Parton’s part during that performance. Case and MMJ may well collaborate once again tonight when they perform at Columbia, MD’s Merriweather Post Pavilion.
