On Friday night, music site Dog Gone Blog hosted its first ever psychedelic rock event. The event—which took place at a DIY artist space known as The Church—featured performances by local act Minerva Lions and L.A. psych rockers Jeffertitti’s Nile as well as DJ sets by East Village Radio’s Mike Newman and Brooklyn’s Invisible Familiars. Members of afro-jam outfit Superhuman Happiness closed out the night with a “family jam” featuring TV on the Radio/Daptone contributor featured Dave “Smoota” Smith on trombone (who also performed on trombone during Phish’s cover of Exile on Main St.) as well Red Baraat’s Miwi La Lupa on bass. The event stretched into the early hours of Saturday with several notable local musicians in attendance. TV on the Radio multi-instrumentalist Jaleel Bunton also made a cameo onstage. Dog Gone Blog is operated by Relix contributor Sam Davis.
