Two Hours with Chris Robinson, Bob Weir and Jackie Greene

Chris Robinson, Bob Weir and Jackie Greene shared the stage on Saturday night at Lyons, CO’s Folks Festival. The three bearded singer/songwriter/band leaders have collaborated in numerous configurations over the years but never as a stripped down trio. As expected, the two-hour show focused mostly on material from the Grateful Dead catalog (both Robinson and Greene were members of Phil Lesh & Friends and also perform Dead chestnuts with their own projects). But Greene did lead the trio through his own “Tell Me Mama, Tell Me Right” while Robinson introduced his own “Appaloosa.” Weir will perform at Woodstock, NY’s Bearsville Theater on September 3.

Here’s a look at the musicians’ set via

New Speedway Boogie, Friend of the Devil, Ramble On Rose, When I Paint My Masterpiece, Catfish John, Tell Me Mama Tell Me Right, Appaloosa, Big Bad Blues, Sugaree, Peggy-O, Bird Song, Uncle Johns Band, China Cat Sunflower > I Know You Rider

Best version of that song I have ever heard. Glad my kids were able to be there to experience it…even if they were asleep in a hammock the whole time.
