Bruce Hornsby and the Noisemakers have been on the road for much of the summer with Béla Fleck & The Flecktones. The shows have been highlly collaborative with both Hornsby and Fleck sharing the stage as a duo, and the members of both bands cross-pollinating onstage in various configurations.

The tour climaxed Friday at Windsor, CT’s SummerWind Performing Arts Center. The show was supposed to feature Gregg Allman & Friends but The Allman Brothers Band leader was forced to cancel this leg of his summer tour for medical reasons. Hornsby and Fleck performed as planned with Jaimoe’s Jasssz Band as the evening’s support. Hornsby also paid tribute to Allman during his set. With Fleck onstage, Hornsby busted into Allman’s “Midnight Rider” during “Prairie Dog Town.” Later in the night, the members of both groups returned to the stage for a show-closing cover of “Southbound.” Though he opened the night, Jaimoe did not sit in with either band.

Hornsby’s collaboration streak continued last night at Vienna, VA’s Wolf Trap. “During Hornsby’s set, Chris Thile, who opened the night with The Punch Brothers, emerged for an extended portion of his set. Hornsby will perform at Kennett Square, PA’s Longwood Gardens tomorrow and at New York’s Beekman Beer Garden on Wednesday. He’ll also play one more show with the Flecktones in Pittsburgh, PA this Thursday.
