The Motet closed out their summer with a private performance in Snowmass Village, Colo. on Sunday night. The set was part of the wedding reception of onetime Relix/Jambands.com staffer—and GroupMe co-founder—Jared Hecht and longtime Friend of Relix Carrie Weprin. After approximately 30-minutes of traditional Jewish music, The Motet played an extended set of classic rock songs by Michael Jackson, Al Green and Herbie Hancock. The group also showed off their knowledge of the Talking Heads’ catalog with a cover of “(Nothing But) Flowers.” After riffing on Sister Sledge’s “We Are Family,” the new bride joined the band on drums for a short jam. The Motet will perform next at Telluride, Colo.’s The Llama on September 22.
