Noam Pikelny’s second album Beat The Devil and Carry A Rail is set for a Tuesday, October 25 release via Compass Records. The banjo player, who formally gigged with Leftover Salmon and is now a member of the Punch Brothers, is joined on the album by current band mates Chris Thile and Gabe Witcher (who produced the album) as well as Bryan Sutton, Tim O’Brien, Jerry Douglas and Aoife O’Donovan. Witcher and O’Donovan (Crooked Still) will join Pikelny on the road in December when he gigs in support of the release, along with fellow Punch Brother Chris Eldridge, Jesse Cobb (Infamous Stringdusters) and Mark Schatz (Bela Fleck, Nickel Creek). The tour opens on December 4 with a performance on Mountain Stage Radio, concluding on December 17 in Chicago at Schubas.
