Monster Island’s Final Weekend
Brooklyn’s Monster Island, an incubator for numerous psych, art, indie and improvisational bands, is scheduled for demolition in November. The venue’s basement performance space will host its final night of live music this Friday night, with Regal Degal, Royal Baths, Total Slacker, Hume and Quilt scheduled to perform. A few hours later, on Saturday afternoon the performance space will host an “Autumnal Unamplified Acoustic BBQ” outside the venue. A variety of acts associated with Monster Island will perform two-song acoustic/unamplified sets, including: Beach Fossils, Dragons of Zynth, Oberhofer, Ducktails, Phonetag, the Forms, Cassie Ramone & Melissa Scaduto, Talk Normal, Dead Leaves / Good Company and many others. The BBQ will likely be the final music event the space holds. Music is set to run from noon-7pm and is free.
