Umphrey’s McGee to Play Groupon Show in Chicago

Umphrey’s McGee are not slated to play Chicago until Thanksgiving Weekend. But the group will play a stealth show at Chicago’s Lincoln Hall on October 19. As reported by our friends at Hidden Track, earlier this morning Groupon announced a special deal for fans to buy tickets to the intimate UM show. Tickets quickly sold out but a new live UM download package is currently available (with 430 fans already onboard as of 11:12 AM). The show is slated to take place a night before the group kicks off their fall tour in Bloomington, IN.

Sellouts? Putting on a secret show in their hometown for $20 at a venue that if the show had been scheduled ahead of time is much too intimate to accomodate the amount of people they would normally play for… Oh and you get a free copy of their new album (retail is $9.99)... Total dick move Umphreys… For making every other band playing right now look bad.

groupon does seem like a strange way to release the tickets but think about what would have happened if this had been a typical ticket release…...200 of the 400 tickets would have been gobbled up by scalpers who’d be selling them for $100 on stubslut

ok seriously? They’re sellouts? For having an intimate show in their home town? Just think about the fans that get a chance to go to that show how stoked they are. Just remember they do things as they would like their favorite bands to do. Just think if the smashing pumpkins put on a show in chicago at a 4,5,or 6 hundered person venue, would they be called sell outs? I think we just have some haters on here. Umphreys is the absoute best live band in the world…...period. I just think you phish fans can’t accept that and come up with garbage to say about them any chance you get…so taylor and attaboy…...fu….......go umph…....go irish…......don’t be a hater.
