Mike Gordon sat in with the Spin Doctors at South Burlington, VT’s Higher Ground last night. The members of the Spin Doctors announced Gordon’s guest appearance on their official Twitter page prior to the show. The Spin Doctors—who are performing their smash album Pocket Full of Kryptonite in its entirety this year—invited Gordon out partway through the album recreation to sit in on “Refrigerator Car.” Phish and the Spin Doctors toured together on the first H.O.R.D.E. in 1992. Gordon has renewed his friendship with Spin Doctors frontman Chris Barron in recent years, and the two seminal jamband musicians frequently talk about songwriting. Gordon also sat in with Barron and his Time Bandits at New York’s National Underground in 2009.
