Jake Shimabukuro Aims to Break Ukulele Record
Jake Shimabukuro will lead over 1,500 fellow ukulele players in a unified performance at Honolulu, Hawaii’s Waikiki Shell Amphitheater tomorrow, October 22. The event, “Go For Da Record,” is set to break the Guinness World Record for the largest ukulele ensemble in the world. The current record was set in Sweden on August, 20 2011 with 1,547 participants.
Funds raised during “Go For Da Record” will benefit music and art programs in Hawaii and the Rainbow for Japan Kids organization. Rainbow for Japan Kids invites Japanese earthquake and tsunami victims to Hawaii to experience a cultural retreat.
