An earlier Knopfler/Dylan collaboration

Though Bob Dylan is almost always on tour, it is rare for him to collaborate with his support acts onstage. It is even rarer for him to perform with his opening acts multiple times on the same tour. But The Bard is clearly enjoying time on the road with his onetime producer and guitar collaborator Mark Knopfler. Dylan invited Knopfler out for a song last week and then for no less than four numbers on Sunday. Last night, the Dire Straits guitarist appeared on five songs during Dylan’s set at Mannheim, Germany’s SAP Arena. At the start of Dylan’s show, Knopfler emerged to play guitar on “Leopard-Skin Pill-Box Hat,” “Don’t Think Twice, It’s All Right,” “Things Have Changed,” “Mississippi” and “John Brown.” The musicians will likely collaborate again at Munich, Germany’s Olympiahalle tonight.
