The Mother Hips hosted a Halloween Bash at Petaluma, CA’s Mystic Theatre this past weekend. Nicki and the Gramblers opened the show with a Grease-themed set: frontwoman Nicki Bluhmn dressed as Sandra Dee and played the part of the T-Birds. The ensemble also reworked a few songs from the Grease musical, including the play’s theme song and “You’re the One that I Want.”

During The Mother Hips’ set, RatDog guitarist Mark Karan also emerged for a version of “Song in a Can” that segued into “Easy Wind.” He returned later in the night for “Out in the Woods” and “One Way out.” The members of The Mothers Hips performed in costume during the bash and hosted an onstage Halloween costume contest partway through the extended set. The Mother Hips will celebrate Arcata, CA’s Humboldt Brews second-anniversary with a two-night run on November 4 and 5.
