“Steam Powered Aereoplane” with guests in 2007

As we first reported yesterday afternoon, the String Cheese Incident welcomed additional musicians to the stage for its show at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, TN. As befit the location, the group looked back to its acoustic roots during the first set. The opener, “Old Train,” saw SCI’s Kyle Hollingsworth appear on grand piano while Sam Bush added mandolin, Stuart Duncan appeared on fiddle and Andy Hall contributed dobro. The entire set maintained a traditional bluegrass feel with such selections as “Big Mon,” and “Steam Powered Aereoplane,” while the group stepped out a bit for covers of “Catfish John” and “I’ve Just Seen A Face.” Bush, Duncan and Hall later returned during the second set for “Long Gone,” the first time that song had appeared in a String Cheese setlist since 7/6/03 and later for the “Little Hands” encore. The complete setlist drawn from our Box Scores section, appears below.

The group returns to the stage on Wednesday at the Lyric Opera House in Baltimore, MD.
