Roy Hargrove will be the official guest of honor at The Telluride Jazz Festival this summer. Previous Telluride Jazz Festival guests of honor include: James Moody, John Scofield and Stanley Turrentine. At 42, Hargrove is the youngest guest of honor in the festival’s 36 year history.

According to the festival’s promoters, “The guest of honor plays a very special role at the Telluride Jazz Festival. Not only is the main stage in Town Park named after them, but they often sit in with several bands throughout the weekend and in turn invite special guests to play with their own band. 2011 attendees might remember last year’s exceptional set where guest of honor Paquito D’Rivera played host to several of the world’s best up and coming musicians.” The 36th Annual Telluride Jazz Festival will take place August 3-5, 2012 in Telluride Town Park.
