The Barrs earlier this year

Surprise Me Mr. Davis and The Slip were the first groups to take fellow Rhode Island-bred band The Low Anthem on the road when they were first getting their start (Davis/Slip guitarist Brad Barr jokes that he “broke The Low Anthem”). A few years later, The Low Anthem returned the favor by taking the new Barr Brothers project out for a West Coast tour. Now, The Barr Brothers are reciprocating once again by booking Low Anthem multi-instrumentalist Jocie Adams’ new solo project as their opening act. Last night, Adams supported The Barr Brothers at New York’s Joe’s Pub and later joined the Barr clarinet for “Ooh, Belle.” Adams returned near the end of the show with some additional members of her band for “Darkness” as well as encores of “Devil’s Harp” and “Cloud (for Lhasa).” The Barr Brothers and The Low Anthem will perform at Brooklyn, NY’s Union Pool tonight.
