Drummer Duane Trucks, the younger brother of Derek Trucks and drummer in Col. Bruce Hampton & the Pharoah Gummit, has formed a new band featuring some familiar faces. Described as a “New Orleans Mojo Revival,” Flannel Church brings together Trucks, bassist Kevin Scott and Codetalkers/Blueground Undergrass guitarist Gregory “Wolf” Hodges. All three musicians have put in time with Hampton’s various projects. The trio will also be joined at select gigs by Lee Boys pedal steel player Roosevelt Collier and guitarist Shane Pruitt.

Flannel Church will make their debut at Jacksonville, FL’s Burro Bar on December 28 with Collier on pedal steel. The show falls on the young drummer’s 23rd birthday and will take place after Tedeschi Trucks Band’s nearby show. The group will then hit the road for a Southeast tour in January.
