Mike Gordon’s brief solo tour continued with a show at Northampton, MA’s Calvin Theatre last night. Early in the show, Gordon’s band debuted the instrumental “Barika,” a song written by their percussionist Craig Myers. Barika is also the name of Myers’ West African-inspired funk band. Gordon also performed The Band’s arrangement of Marvin Gaye’s “Don’t Do It” for the first time. The bassist has introduced a number of new covers during his fall outing. He’s also played a variety of songs written by his various bandmates. Gordon will perform at Albany, NY’s The Egg this evening.
