Last night Yo La Tengo opened their annual Hanukkah run at Maxwell’s in Hoboken, NJ. As we reported on Monday, guitarist Ira Kaplan was forced to perform from a sitting position due to a “pretty serious health scare earlier this month.” Quite possibly as a result, the group expanded to a core quartet for much of the evening with Mac McCaughan (Superchunk) on guitar, keyboards and vocals. In addition, the night included guest appearances by members of The Sea & Cake, who opened the show, with John McEntire, Sam Prekop, and Archer Prewitt all taking the stage over the course of the evening. The encore also saw Maxwell’s talent buyer Todd Abramson take the stage for The Tradewinds’ “Aba Dabba Do Dance.”

The complete setlist appears below courtesy of Jesse Jarnow’s Frank & Earthy blog. Speaking of Jarnow, his official biography of Yo La Tengo, entitled Big Day Coming: Yo La Tengo and the Rise of Indie Rock is set for a June 6 release via Gotham.

Here’s the setlist as it appears on Frank & Earthy.
