While most rock clubs are dark on Christmas Eve, the mighty Yo La Tengo continued their annual Hanukkah run at Hoboken, NJ’s Maxwell’s. The recently reunited Athens, GA group The Glands opened the night while Jon Glaser was the show’s guest comedian. Tara Key, of the Louisville, KY-bred band Antietam, also played auxiliary guitar for much of the night. As previously reported, Yo La Tengo guitarist Ira Kaplan recently faced a health scare and has performed while seated for most of the band’s Maxwell’s run. Near the end of the night, Jon Glaser returned to the stage to play the part of Bob Seger during a cover of the Silver Bullet Band leader’s “Night Moves.” Yo La Tengo will return to Maxwell’s on Christmas night for night six of their Hanukkah celebration

Relix contributing editor Jesse Jarnow continues to house the run’s setlists on his blog . His book Big Day Coming: Yo La Tengo and the Rise of Indie Rock is set for release on June 6, 2012
