The Motet will play their first San Francisco show in more than three years at Yoshi’s on February 23. The group will perform their recent Halloween Funk Is Dead tribute to the Grateful Dead with a guest brass section featuring Gabe Mervine (trumpet) and Matt Pitts (tenor). The rest of The Motet’s lineup will consist of Dave Watts (drums), Garrett Sayers (bass), Joey Porter (keys), Ryan Jalbert (guitar) and Dan Schwindt (guitar), as well as vocalists Jans Ingber, Paul Creighton, and Kim Dawson.

The Motet will end the year with a Colorado run scheduled to kick off at Breckenridge, CO’s Three 20 South this evening. Of special note, the ensemble’s December 30 show in Ft. Collins, CO will feature selections from The Motet’s past Halloween shows. The Motet will also revisit their past Halloween shows at Denver, CO’s Cervantes Masterpiece Ballroom this January, including music by Talking Heads, Jamiroquai, Prince, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Sly and the Family Stone, Earth, Wind & Fire and Tower of Power. In addition, the band will devote a night to their current Funk is Dead presentation.
