Yonder Mountain String Band kicked off a five night run at Boulder, CO’s Boulder Theatre last night. Each night of the band’s run will feature some special guests, and last night dobro player Andy Hall (The Infamous Stringdusters) sat in with the band for its entire two-set performance. The stage setup for the night had a living room theme, which included couches, chairs, lamps (including A Christmas Story -esque leg lamp) and chandeliers in lieu of traditional house lighting.

Last week Yonder asked fans to pick the top three songs that they would like to hear live via a poll on Facebook, and the band responded by playing covers of The Grateful Dead’s “Mississippi Halfstep Uptown Toodleoo” and “Mason’s Children,” as well as the Yonder original “In The Woods With The Munchies,” the latter of which has only been played three other times live. The last time the song was performed was on June 11, 2010 in Washburn, WI. The show also boasted a performance of Andy Hall’s original “Fireball,” a cover of Bob Dylan’s “Spanish Harlem Incident” and The Beatles “Only A Northern Song” which segued into “Peace of Mind.” Rushad Eggleston of Darol Anger’s Republic of Strings fame also sat in for the band’s encore of “Kentucky Mandolin.”

Yonder will return to The Boulder Theatre tonight.
