moe. played a sold out New Year’s Eve show at Portland, ME’s recently renovated State Theatre last night. The Buffalo, NY-bred band has a long history with the New England venue and even recorded portions of their 2007 release The Conch at the theater. Last night’s set kicked off with a segue from a show-opening “Not Coming Down” into “Wormwood” and “Deep This Time.”

At the start of their second set, the group invited out drummer Vinnie Amico’s young daughter Marley to play saxophone on the group’s first cover of Pink Floyd’s “Money” since August 30, 2003 (moe. introduced the cover during their Alice in Wonderland / Dark Side of the Moon Halloween shows in 2000). At the end of their second set, the group also pulled a setlist trick and completed “Zed Naught Z” from the night before.

With the clock inching closer to midnight, the group returned to the stage and kicked off their third set with “Recreational Chemistry.” As the calendar turned over, the band busted into the traditional “Auld Lang Syne” and then completed “Recreational Chemistry.” The set later came to a close with a seamless segue from “Haze” into “Buster, “Tubing,” “Pit” and “Timmy Tucker.” The lone encore of “Godzilla” closed out the night.
