Yonder is Boulder earlier this week

Yonder Mountain String Band closed their five-show run at Boulder, CO’s Boulder Theater last night. Though Yonder confirmed many of their New Year’s week guests ahead of time, the band did not specify which night of their New Year’s Eve stand each musician join in the action. Longtime Yonder fiddle collaborator Darol Anger scored the guest spot for the band’s December 30 and 31 gigs, sitting in with the quartet for the entirety of both performances. Percussionist Futureman (Flecktones), cello wiz Rushad Eggleston, bassist Nick Forester (Hot Rize) and guitarist Andy Hall (Infamous Stringdusters)
also sat in with the group during their run.

Midnight fell near the end of Yonder’s first set and the band busted into JJ Cale’s classic “After Midnight” before midnight, and then counted down to the New Year with “Southern Flavor.” The band encored with “Wild Turkey” and “Going Where They Do Not Know My Name” and were quickly called back for a second encore segment of the Grateful Dead’s “New Speedway Boogie.”

Yonder Mountain String Band’s Cabin Fever tour will kick off at Fayetteville, AR’s George’s Majestic on February 8.
