Deer Tick played a high-energy, packed show at New York’s Brooklyn Bowl on New Year’s Eve. Billed as Deer Tick and friends, the night featured opening spots by the likes of J. Roddy Walston and the Business, Dead Confederate and Virgin Forest as well as an appearance by guitarist Jamie McLean (fomerly of Dirty Dozen Brass Band). In addition, both Titus Andronicus’ Patrick Stickles and The Hold Steady’s Craig Finn emerged during Deer Tick’s set to sing on “Bastards of Young.” The members of Dead Confederate and Virgin Forest also both sat in at various points throughout the party-style set, and most of the evening’s guests and—a good portion of the club’s crowd—took the stage for a show closing “Let’s All Go to the Bar.” While the rumored Diamond Rugs stealth show did not take place at 2AM, the club remained open late into the night.
