Ween played their first New Year’s concert in over a decade on Saturday night. The show took place at Denver, CO’s Fillmore as part of a celebratory few months that also included a Halloween gig at New York’s Hammerstein Ballroom. While most of Saturday’s show consisted of Ween classics, the band did throw in a cover of Neil Young’s “Ohio” near the end of the night. After playing “Your Party,” the group welcomed 2012 with “Auld Lang Syne” and a festive version of David Bowie’s “Let’s Dance.” The song was also a favorite at the band’s Denver-area Halloween show in 2010.

Later in the performance, Dean Ween showed off his bass skills on “Don’t Laugh I Love You.” While we are not sure if Ween succeeded in setting the record for the most songs they’ve ever played during a three night stand (as they promised on their website), the group covered a lot of ground.

Gene Ween looks to have a busy 2012, including the release of his first solo album.
