Yim Yames has announced a new Woody Guthrie tribute project with fellow musicians Jay Farrar (Son Volt, Gob Iron, Uncle Tupelo), Will Johnson (Centro-matic, South San Gabriel), and Anders Parker (Varnaline, Gob Iron). On February 28, the group will release New Multitudes, a modern-day interpretation of American icon and musical legend Woody Guthrie’s previously unrecorded lyrics. They will also hit the road in support of the new album in March. The 12 track release and 24 track limited edition are set to coincide with Woody Guthrie’s 100th birthday and will be put out by Rounder Records. You can hear the first song off the album, “Old L.A.,” over on the group’s Facebook page.
