Next month, funk icon George Clinton will head to Berklee College of Music to teach a four-day residency, perform a concert, and accept an honorary degree. At the concert Berklee President Roger Brown will present Clinton with an honorary doctor of music degree in recognition for the funk icon’s enduring musical and cultural contributions. The concert will pay tribute to Clinton’s musical legacy with performances of P-Funk classics “I Wanna Testify,” “Mothership Connection,” and others. From February 13-16, Clinton will visit classes, interact with students, and rehearse with the Berklee P-Funk Ensemble. Clinton’s longtime horn section featuring Greg Thomas and Bennie Cowan will also perform with him at the concert. The concert itself will take place on February 16 at the Berklee Performance Center.
