Drivin’ n’ Cryin’s Kevn Kinney has released his first solo record since 2004. Produced by longtime Kinney collaborator Anton Fier, A Good Country Mile features contributions from a range of musicians, including Anton Fier, Chris Masterson, Jim Campilongo, Andy Hess, Tony Scherr, Aaron Lee Tasjan, Jon Cowherd, Eleanor Masterson, Leslie Mendelson and Lianne Smith. Kinney will perform songs from the album when he plays solo acoustic at Todos Santos, Mexico’s Todos Santos Music Festival later today.

“Its exciting to be back after twenty odd years with Anton recalling the days when i used to jam in the garage or basement of a friend’s house whose mom was out shopping only now i know how to play but the reckless abandon is still in full force,” Kinney says. “ Anton produced my first Island records
session For Srivin n Xryin’s s Whisper Tames The Lion. Recorded here in New York. I lived in Atlanta at the time. There is a song at the end of the record, ‘Ridin On The Soul Road,’ a cross between A twilight zone episode ‘Next Stop Willoughby ‘ and the story of the city mouse and the country mouse.”
